While not a native species, Bougainvillea is a signature plant in Singapore’s landscape. They are extensively planted locally since they flower profusely year round in our hot & wet-dry climate. The large and colorful bracts are also commonly mistaken as the flower petals, which are actually much smaller compared to the showy bracts.

Frequent watering may discourage the plant from flowering. Allow the pot to dry out thoroughly before watering it to encourage flowering behavior.
